Why choose Thinking Dog?
Thinking Dog uses only methods that are based in the science of learning theory (how dogs learn and how we can best teach them).
Unlike some other organisations that offer advice for dog behaviour problems, Thinking Dog does not rely on popular but misguided concepts such as the need to show ‘dominance' over your dog. Instead, Thinking Dog uses sound scientific techniques to identify why a dog is behaving in a certain (undesirable) way and to make it worthwhile for the dog to behave in a different (desirable) way.
Thinking Dog does not use methods that could harm or frighten your dog, such as choke (check) chains, shouting or other frightening noises, throwing things, or squirting the dog with water. Dogs are taught new skills using methods based on rewarding ‘good' behaviour.
Each dog is treated as an individual, with a unique set of behaviours. Thinking Dog does not use ‘cookie cutter' approaches to dealing with behaviour problems but develops an individual plan for each behaviour case. This plan is based on a detailed analysis of the events surrounding the dog's behaviour.
